JERRY

Jerry was the promoter of the family.  In gammer school he figured out how to make a profit for selling peanut brittle and charged neighbors for the free shopping news.  In high school he worked at Herszel's drug store to pay for  a body building program.  Like other students at that time, he carried books but Jerry always had Charles Atlas exercise plans ready to study and memorize at recess.  Jerry's muscular body and good looks and a ready smile drew lots of attention from girls and athletic coaches.

Jerry was the last of the great spenders. Dad sent him to Klienhans department store to by a few Xmas gifts and he bought several presents for everyone.  When the deliver truck arrived Dad sent it all back except for a Lionel train for the older boys to share, a doll for Kathleen and a fire truck for John and Paul.

After graduation Jerry signed up for the Navy V12 program and was enrolled  at UC Berkeley majoring in engineering.  Jerry played on the UC varsity football team and upon graduation was commissioned as a Lieutenant J.G.  and during the Korean War was deployed aboard ship in the Persian Gulf.

After discharge Jerry joined the management team at Owens Corning Fiberglass and directed the construction and operation of a new production plant in Santa Clara, CA.  He later joined the OCF marketing team at headquarters in Toledo Ohio and San Francisco, retiring after 35 years.

Jerry always liked fine things!  He wore fine cloths, drove Cadillacs and lived in upper class neighborhoods.  He encouraged his 5 children to do the same.  Jerry and his family enjoyed camping in the Sierra mountains and eventually he and Paul purchased of a condo at Lake Tahoe.  Jerry and Myra toured the western states in an RV with friends and eventually retired in Roseville Ca,
